Piano and voice lessons

Lessons are held once per week, and are generally 30 or 60 minutes in length depending on the level and needs of the student.

Lessons are held in Ms. Emily’s home, or in your home depending on where you live.

There are no age restrictions; however, students under the age of 5 may not be developmentally ready for piano lessons. This will be handled on a case-by-case basis and depends entirely on the individual student in question. For voice students, care has to be taken with young/unchanged voices; at the initial trial lesson, Ms. Emily will determine whether or not it is an appropriate time for a given student to study voice.

Customized for each student

Every student is different, and as such Ms. Emily will adapt to how each student learns best to create a customized experience. For piano students, the Piano Adventures series of method books is generally used, but it can be supplemented by other pieces, or a different series can be used at the request of the student. Voice students do not have a definitive method book series, and their curriculum will be customized based on the needs of the student. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to teaching or learning!

Additionally, the length of the lesson may be adjusted depending on the needs of the student, e.g. a very young student may only need 15-20 minutes, or a more intermediate/advanced student might need 45 minutes instead of 30.
